More information for Mac users
- On Mac devices, these variants and diacritics are activated by the caps lock key and are reproduced in an additionally inserted row above the regular keyboard lines.
- First activate the Mac Keyboard Viewer and select an AABC language. (In the example we use “Hausa”.)
- If you press the caps-lock-key, all keys that have variants or diacritics available are highlighted in orange. (see screenshot)
- Press one of the highlighted keys. The possible variants or diacritic combinations of the chosen key are shown in the numbers row of the Keyboard Viewer. To type one of the variants or diacritics press the according number key.
- Now you can either press another one of the highlighted keys to type more diacritic combinations or disable caps-lock to return to the normal keyboard.
