Various are the methods, approaches and techniques which have been adopted through the history of teaching and learning foreign languages. Such a variety in methodology goes hand in hand with the changing situations of the learning/teaching process whereby the teacher, the learner and the teaching materials are assigned specific roles. Hence, a proper language teaching strategy is conceived in consistence with the learners’ profile, namely prior knowledge, mother tongue culture, personal objectives, aspirations and any prevailing ideology. For this reason, didactics has long been a fertile field of shifting paradigms, theories, researches and practices in quest for more fitting management of learning situations to achieve desired cognitive, emotional or sensory transformation in learners. What is more, the advent of e-learning industry has nowadays brought further dimensions to the language learning process, specifically autonomous, individual and virtual learning options and solutions. Along this line, so conspicuous is the interest in foreign languages widely spreading in colleges, public and private institutions, and associations.

Consequently, research in language learning practices has diversified and broadened its scope; some experiments have revisited outmoded methods and approaches for suitability in modern language teaching situations. On this basis, this conference opens up opportunities for educationalists and language practitioners in colleges, institutions and organizations to discuss their experiences and share issues, practices and challenges of teaching and learning languages. Specifically, the conference intends to spot aspects of development and innovation in language teaching/learning and areas where improvement and studies are still required.
