As part of the Workshop series Critical: Hope the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excelllence in collaboration with the Artist Residency Schloss Balmoral (Kunsthochschule Mainz), the Sophiatown Arts Akademy (Johannesburg), Iwalewahaus at the University of Bayreuth, and Steingraeber Bayreuth is presenting a concert "Critical: Hope! - The sonic Conversation"
Multi-instrumentalist and pianist Malcolm Jiyane from Johannesburg, Asher Gamedze, drummer, jazz musician and cultural worker from Cape Town, Simon-Mary Vincent, composer and pianist from Budapest, Robert Machiri, Sonic Scholar from Berlin and Zeynep Sibel Altun, guitarist and songwriter from Frankfurt, invite you to an evening together. As part of their artist residency, the artists have explored the theme "Critical: Hope!":
Hope, understood not as a naive wish, but as a political analysis of the present and a radically just blueprint for the future. The concert is part of the series curated by Katharina Fink, Eylem Çamuroǧlu Çıǧ and Serawit Debele, junior research group leader
