The intersection between gender, racial, class, etc. inequality is a central concern not only of gender studies, but of life in general at a time of globalization, mass migration and in increasingly heterogeneous and diverse societies. This is why the African Multiple Cluster of Excellence’s Principal Investigator Prof. Susan Arndt established a complementary studies programme named “Intersektionalitätsstudien und Diversity-Kompetenzen“ at the University of Bayreuth. Organized in cooperation with GeQuInDI (network of Gender, Queer, Intersectionality and Diversity Studies at UBT) and with the support of the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence, the unique programme was successfully launched in the winter semester 2019/20. In addition to the introductory course, a new more in-depth lecture series will be added to the curriculum in the current semester (winter semester 2020/21).
Lecture series on the vast topic of intersectionality
Every Thursday at 6 p.m. students will be given lectures by experts of the field of intersectionality. The topics range from a historic overview of intersectionality to ageism, feminism among others. Due to current pandemic restrictions the lectures will be held via Zoom. For more details check: www.intersectionality.uni-bayreuth.de (sg)
