Beyond the Digital Return Team Meeting & Participation in the Workshop of the Africa Multiple ACC Moi University “Traditional Music/Musical Traditions: Past(ness) in African Music Today” (convenors Prof. Peter Simatei and Prof. Tom Mboya)

Eldoret, Kenya August 2024

From 8^th to 13^th of August 2024 our research team met in Kenya for the 2024 team meeting hosted by our Kenyan project director  Prof. Tom Mboya and the Kenyan team members, and also to participate in the workshop “Traditional Music/Musical Traditions: Past(ness) in African Music Today,” organized at Moi University by the director of the ACC, Prof. Peter Simatei and Prof. Tom Mboya, also the ACC’s academic coordinator.

We had a productive and memorable stay at Eldoret that combined the task of a research project team meeting with presentations and contributions to an important workshop with scholars, practitioners, and music heritage activist, closely related to our topic, as well as an impressive visit to the Kenya Music Festival 2024, facilitated by our team member, Dr. Jane Mwonga. We also got the chance to have an impression of the outstanding environs of the Kenyan Rift Valley, outside of Eldoret. Feel free take a look at the full report of our Eldoret stint.
