Actor, dancer
*1985, Düsseldorf, Germany
Eugene Boateng is an actor, model, choreographer and dancer. He was born in Düsseldorf in 1985 to Ghanaian parents and grew up in the Kiefernstraße. It was there, in the centre of the off-culture, that he began his dance training. The colourful community in Kiefernstraße inspired him, he says.
Boateng worked with musicians such as Kool Savas, Tocotronic and Jan Delay, took acting and singing lessons in Berlin and appeared in various theatre productions. He took on his first film role in 2015. In 2021, “Borga” was released in cinemas. In the film, Eugene Boateng plays Kojo, a young Ghanaian who hopes for a better life in Germany. He received the German Acting Award for this role. “Borga” was also screened at the Cluster’s film festival Cinema Africa in 2023, where Boateng joined the Cluster for a discussion with the audience. In November 2021, Boateng celebrated his premiere as a TV detective in ARD’s Flensburg-Krimi.
