Paméla Diop is a Franco-Senegalese film producer. She is the managing director of AWA Productions and co-founder of the production company Biopics Films. In 2019, Paméla Diop founded the Lacmé Studios branch specialising in the production of genre films with Jean-Luc Herbulot, a Franco-Congolese writer and director.
In 2021, she produced her first feature film, “Saloum”, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and was selected at some forty international festivals. She produced and co-wrote the story of “Saloum” outside the traditional circuits. Shortly afterwards, she co-produced a second action feature with the American-Senegalese director, Zéro.
In 2022, Pamela Diop set up AWA Productions, a company dedicated to producing films written and/or directed by women from Africa and the diaspora. She decided that the profits from these productions would be reinvested in the development of other films and in the setting up of programmes to introduce, discover and accelerate women into the film industry through her association African Women Action (AWA).
Diop joined the Cluster in 2023 for the screening of her film “Saloum” at the Cinema Africa film festival.
