Personal Information

Saïkou Oumar Sagnane holds a BA in sociology and an MA in anthropology from the Université Général Lansana Conté Sonfonia-Conakry. In his doctoral research, and as part of the research group “Politics of the Unknown,” Sagnane analyses the circulation, discussion and transformations, the uses and functions of information flows, as well as the logic of the “quest” in the context of unexpected events. Taking Guinea’s political regime change in 2021 as a case study, his work contributes to understanding the making and unmaking of the unknown. Extending his master’s dissertation on “The social life of health messages”, Sagnane seeks to demonstrate how the social life of information enables people to know what they did not know. Besides his research and teaching, Sagnane also contributes to knowledge transfer activities and consultancies. (photo is coming)
