Thiam Sékou Oumar, born in Mamou, Guinea in 1982, is a renowned Guinean sculptor known for his innovative use of salvaged materials in his art. Oumar studied at the Institut Supérieure des Arts de Guinée, where he explored various artistic disciplines before discovering his passion for sculpture. His work uniquely incorporates materials such as fabric, wood, iron, and plastic, highlighting environmental issues like climate change. His commitment to sustainability and his artistic prowess have led to numerous exhibitions and awards, including the Trophée Protecteur des Arts from the Petit Musée in Conakry. In 2016, he presented his work under the theme *Les Ténèbres de la Pensée* ("The Darkness of Thought") and has since been an artist-in-residence at the Petit Musée. His art continues to be featured in festivals across Africa, including in countries like Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and the Republic of Congo, where he merges sculpture with scenography to bring attention to pressing social themes.
